So what does it mean for a one-year anniversary? You don't have to go through the whole formal affair and you certainly don't have to have the same date all over again. It means a lot of different things to different people, depending on their personalities, but basically, it means a day when you give each other all the love that you've been missing.
So what do you want to say? Well, there are many things you can do. Some people choose to write something personal on the invitation card, so that they know exactly how long they have known each other. But that can be a little too intimate. Some people prefer to just get some cards printed out that say “one year since the day we met…” or something similar.
The big question is, what kind of date should you go with? Should it be the date that you first met? Or, should it be the anniversary of a specific event, like a wedding or a baby?
If you're having trouble deciding on that, think about the time of year. Do you have any special events coming up that will make it easier for you to do this? Maybe your birthday is around this time. Or maybe you can arrange for the date to coincide with another person's birthday.
No matter how you decide to do it, the point is that you are showing that you value and appreciate one another. And there are just as many ways to do this as you can think of. From cards, gifts, flowers, candles, food… you name it!
Anniversary cards are great ways to show how much you care, but you should make sure that the card is personalized. That way, you can put in anything you want and there will be a special meaning. For example, if you went to a restaurant with him or her on that very special day, you can get a card where the date and the name of the restaurant both spell out the restaurant name. Or if you want to get something more personal, then just put the date of the anniversary on the card!
Another great way to make the card a surprise is by putting an item inside. For example, instead of sending a card with a CD of your favorite song, send a picture of you in a bikini. Or, instead of sending flowers, send a picture of you doing your best to impress them. Or, get a box of chocolates with a note that says, “I hope you have had a wonderful birthday!” You'll never guess what kind of surprise you'll get from this!
You can even make the card personalized with something funny or sad, as long as it makes them smile. If they had a death in the family, you could get cards with photos of them as a child, a picture of their grave, and an inscription saying something like, “Remember them while you're still here!”
Anniversary cards are really easy to make, and they show that you're still thinking about them, which is great because that is the most important part. So don't wait; make them today!
